該書為清代康熙朝至民國時期300多年間廣州歷史地圖之彙集，一冊，輯錄輿圖97幅。

《廣州歷史地圖精粹》以其獨特的地圖語言形式，濃縮了城市發展的歷史，形象地展示了廣州城不同時期拓展的輪廓。其種類包括廣州府境圖、郊縣圖、城區街道圖、水道圖、海防圖等。這些地圖從不同角度記載了當時廣州區域內山川湖泊、陸地海洋等地貌特徵，以及城堡民居、集市、道路、建築式樣和軍政機關、營房炮臺佈設等標記，真實反映了廣州在歷史上的自然和人文景觀，從中可探察廣州歷史、地理、文化、商業、交通等發展變化情況，把握廣州古城的歷史變遷的脈絡。圖冊另一個顯著特點，就是清晰地描繪了珠江廣州河段的變遷，揭示了廣州城與珠江河難以割捨的依存關係。

Inserted is the article "Newly available Manchu documents pertaining to Sino-Western relations in the Kangxi Period" by Eugenio Menegon, excerpted from: Sino-Western Cultural Relations Journal XIX (1997). Dr. Menegon translates the title as: "A translation of the complete collection of Manchu language secret memorials with vermilion endorsements of the Kangxi period." He notes: "Approximately 125 Manchu memorials deal with the presence of the Jesuits at the Qing court, the Tournon legation, and Qing relations with Western powers..." (insert p. 23-24).

"Specialists from the First Historical Archives and the USF Ricci Institute have examined and reproduced art and archival documents related to the Qing dynasty’s Central Asian campaigns (1755-1759). ... it collects commissioned paintings, imperially penned poems, and related documents....key pieces of art and Qing imperial documents...(for) history, art history, military history, and East-West cultural exchange. The Pacification of the Western Regions [Pingding Xiyu zhantu 平定西域戰圖] depicts the Central Asian campaigns during which the Qing suppressed the rebellions of the Dzungar chieftain Dawaci 達瓦齊, leader of the Eleuth (Kalmuk) Mongols, and of the elder and younger Khojas, Muslim Uighur’s based at the souther borders of the Tianshan range....this publication includes selections of related historical documents in Chinese and Manchu, most of which are revealed to the public for the first time. Source documents from the First Historical Archives dealing with Catholic (primarily Jesuit) missionaries of the early-mid Qing dynasty. Documents are mainly selected from the archives of the Grand Secretariat, the Grand Council, the Palace Secret Memorial Archives, and the Imperial Household Department. Documents date from the fist year of reign of the Shunzhi Emperor (1644) to the thirtieth year of the Daoguang reign (1850), and include imperial decrees, edicts, memorials and reports to the throne, plus lists of gifts presented to the emperors by Catholic missionaries and deeds of land and house purchased by them.
Vols. 1-3 contains documents illustrating mission activities in various locales in China. Vol. 4 documents are from the record book of work orders in the Workshop Section of the Imperial Household Department, reflecting the tasks and services Western missionaries at the Qing court during the Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns.
