It is only a revival, in modified form, of "Le Correspondant Chinois", a French weekly begun in April, 1939, by a group of Catholic Fathers and laymen, to give French-speaking Catholics in China. and abroad accurate information on our country at war”-- Issue 1 (1943), p. 4. This journal introduces Chinese history and culture to an English-speaking audience, primarily U.S. servicemen in China during WWII.
