Note | Hua-De zidian 華德字典 / Georg M. Stenz (Xue Tianzi 薛田資, 1869–1928) Based on Josef Stangier's (Shang Geli 商格理, 1872–1953) Chinesisch-deutsches Taschen-Wörterbuch [Hua-De zidian 華德字典] (1914), which in turn was based on Debesse's Chinese-French dictionary and other missionary lexicographical resources, as well as the much-used Chinese rhyme book Wufang yuanyin 五方元音. Stangier's dictionary had been arranged in alphabetical order according to the transcription of the Chinese characters. This dictionary changed the arrangement to Chinese radical-and-stroke order and augmented the lemmata list with scientific terms.
