I am interested in cross-border economic activity. Growing up in Israel, a small, export-driven country, I was curious about the outside world and its effect on me. For example, why were the best oranges exported, while we were left to choose from second-rate ones? My research into questions such as this led me to consider issues such as the effects of globalization on the purchasing practices of large retailers. My other recent work includes a study of price patterns in the global oil market and a study of the role of short-term debt in the Asian financial crisis of 1997-8.
