Projects: My sabbatical will include relaxation and travel, with a sprinkling of research. My trips to Thailand and Trinidad will be hugely pleasurable; but while in Trinidad I also plan to conduct research on literary and social uses of carnival culture as a basis for my next project on popular fiction and the African diaspora.
