On March 23, a year and nine days before the date that will mark the 150th anniversary of the University’s charter, @BC sent a camera crew to O’Neill Plaza to get the founding facts—selecting students at random for a good-natured history test.

The undergraduates interviewed, with thanks, were, in order of first appearance: Ashlie Pruitt ’15, Alexander Oliveiri ’12, Kelly Tyman ’14, Elizabeth Gavin ’14, Benjamin Habito ’15, Jake Alexander ’14, Ted Gu ’12, James Keeley ’13, Emily Morton ’12, Korey McIsaac ’12, Sara Gomez ’12, Nina Touraji ’15, Georgia Burke ’15, Ryan Murphy ’13, Thomas Mattera ’13, Noel Simon ’13, Sarah Winglass ’14, and Brandan Ray ’15.

Details of the University’s 150th celebration—which will include a Mass at Fenway Park and a concert at Symphony Hall, as well as speakers and symposia throughout the coming three semesters—can be found at Boston College’s dedicated anniversary website, www.bc.edu/150. Features there include:

  • Day by Day, a calendar history of Boston College
  • Sub Turri, the yearbook collection, digitized through 2005
  • Photos, long ago and present day, from the University Archives
  • A full schedule of events
