Women’s ice hockey coach Katie King arrived at Boston College in 2003 after an illustrious career as a player—at Brown University, on three medal-winning U.S. Olympic teams, and on the Women’s National Team. As head coach at Boston College, King has led the team to a Beanpot championship, a berth in the NCAA tournament, and the Hockey East championship game.
Football coach Frank Spaziani took over the head coaching position in 2009 after 10 years as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator and two as running backs coach. In 2007 his defense ranked second in the nation; the 2008 Eagles defense was in the top 10 nationally in seven categories. In Spaziani’s first season as head coach, the team was 8-5, finishing the season with an invitation to the Emerald Bowl, where they lost to USC.
Women’s basketball coach Sylvia Crawley is in her third year at Boston College. In her first two seasons, the team’s record was 40-27. Before coming to Boston College, Crawley was head coach at Ohio University and, prior to that, assistant coach at Fordham and the University of North Carolina, her alma mater. After UNC, Crawley played two years in the American Basketball League and on a number of U.S. national teams.
Rowing coach Steve Fiske is in his 11th year at Boston College. He arrived as the sport moved from a club to a varsity team. His crews have won national regattas and competed at the Henley Women’s Regatta in Oxfordshire, England. In 2009 the team finished fourth in the ACC Women’s Rowing Championship. Before coming the Boston College, Fiske was assistant coach at his alma mater Fordham University, where he was an oarsman. Following college he competed nationally and internationally (representing the Commercial Rowing Club of Ireland).
