Fuhuo lun 復活論.
By An Wensi 安文思 (Gabriel de Magalhães, 1609–1677).
Two juan. Chinese bamboo paper in two volumes. No date or place of publication.
The cover bears the title and the number of the volume.
There is a preface (two folios) by Jiang Xiuren 姜修仁 of Guanzhong 關中 (Shaanxi), dated the seventh month of Kangxi 16 (1677). This is followed by a biography (four folios) of the author: An xiansheng xingshu 安先生行述, composed by Buglio and Verbiest (cf. Jap-Sin III, 23.5). The second preface (one and one half folio) is by de Magalhães himself, followed by the names of the censors: Lu Riman 魯日滿 (François de Rougemont, 1624–1676), Li Leisi 利類思 (Lodovico Buglio), Nan Huairen 南懷仁 (Ferdinand Verbiest), and Bo Yingli 柏應理 (Philippe Couplet). Permission for publication was granted by Lu Ande 陸安德 (Andrea-Giovanni Lubelli).
There is a table of contents in juan 1 (two folios) and in juan 2 (one and one-half folio). There are fifty-one folios of text in juan 1 and fifty in juan 2. Each half folio contains nine columns with twenty-one characters in each column. The upper middle of each folio bears the title: Chaoxing xueyao 超性學要; below the fish tail the number of the juan, the title Fuhuo lun and the number of the folio are given.
Lodovico Buglio translated parts of the Summa Theologiae of St. Thomas Aquinas (Chaoxing xueyao, cf. Jap-Sin II, 3–9), which were published in Beijing between the years 1654 and 1678. The present book Fuhuo lun (De resurrectione carnis), published between the years 1677 and 1678, is a translation of a part of the supplement (not written by Thomas Aquinas himself) to Pars tertia of the Summa (suppl., qq. 75–86).
