"[Jianzhi bian] 見只編 (after 1592)...by Yao Shilin, a shengyuan and private scholar of the late Ming period from Haiyan 海鹽, Zhejiang....Miscellaneous notes and anecdotes on various subjects the author learned from hearsay or by personal experience in his home county or during travels abroad. Some notes deal with such subjects as natives in Gansu amd western Sichuan, coastal piracy, relations with Japan, salt mines, examinations, the dishes offered daily to the imperial ancestors, etc., during the Ming period.
