Guochao xianzhenglu 國朝獻徵錄 " .... most voluminous and important collection of biographies of eminent people living between the beginning of the [Ming] dynasty and the early Wanli period. The biographies are written by various authors and collected from the Veritable Records, epitaths, and other inscriptions, obituaries, family chronicles, and various other sources ... begun about 1594 and printed in 1616 ... Yanshantang bieji 弇山堂别集 (1590) ".... collection of treatises on various subjects relating to Ming history in the author's life-time, also published separately or in other collections ...." Cf. Entry 2.2.6 (p.50-52) lists 20 treatises covering such topics as: unusual achievements of emperors, princes, and officials, civil service examinations, criticism of errors in historical records, imperial genealogies, lists of officials, record of military campaigns, inspection tours, honorary titles, rewards and favors, military edicts, military organization, horse trading with border peoples, palace eunuchs and administrative organization until Wanli 10, and comments on other sources that contain them.

"Zhusi zhizhang 諸司職掌 (1393)--compiled under imperial order by Zhai Shan 翟善 (Hongwu period). Statutes for the organization of the central government divided into the Six Ministries, the Censorate, Office of Transmission (Tongzhengsi 通政司), Grand Court of Revision (Dalisi 大理寺) and the Five Chief Military Commissions (Wujun dudufu 五軍都督府). This work was superceded by the Da Ming huidian but it is the principal source for the government structure in the early Ming period after the abolition of the Central Secretariat (Zhongshusheng 中書省) in 1380.
