Brief description of a fragment of the Shuihu zhuan in the Bodleian (Chin. e. II) that possible came to Leiden as a result of the first Dutch voyage to the East Indies (1595-1597), given by Paulus Merula (1558-1607) of Leiden University to Thomas Hyde, Bodley's Librarian (1665-1701), with a notecard in Chinese characters possibly written by Michael Shen Fuzong, who arrived in Europe in 1683 and worked with Hyde at Oxford. Shen accompanied Fr. Philippe Couplet on his return to Europe. The text apparently differs from standard editions of the Shuihu.
