The mission itself involved four young Japanese Christians — 伊東マンショ (Itō Manshō), 千々石ミゲル (Chijiwa Miguel), 中浦ジュリアン (Nakaura Julian), and 原マルチノ (Hara Martinō) — who travelled from Japan via Macau and India to Europe, met with the Pope and European monarchs, and returned to Japan around 1590.
