This account, written by Sīrāfī, Abū Zayd Ḥasan ibn Yazīd, is based on statements by a merchant named Sulaymān. The present translation was made from the French editiion, Relation de la Chine et de lʹInde rédigéé in 851, by Jean Sauvaget, with comparisons from the Japanese translation, Shina Indo monogatari シナ・インド物語 (vol. 2), by Fujimoto Katsuji.
