Enactment of the Affordable Care Act and release of the Institute of Medicine’s The Future of Nursing report in 2010 threw open doors to nurses interested in assuming leadership positions and contributing more of their knowledge, skills, and abilities to advancing patient care.

Karen Daley, president of the nation’s largest nursing organization and nationally recognized nurse advocate, offers an insider’s perspective on the progress of the nursing agenda and challenges that remain in the efforts to transform our health care delivery system.
