Boston College - School of Nursing - Year in review 2017-18

Dear Connell School community,

The 2017–18 academic year was a fabulous one here at the Connell School.

Several of our faculty and alumni were inducted into the American Academy of Nursing. Others received research funding to study populations that range from minority pregnant women at risk to nursing home residents living with dementia. Some were elected to nursing leadership positions.

In December, we celebrated the achievements of our beloved Sr. Callista Roy, C.S.J., the renowned nurse theorist who retired to her native California. And we welcomed new faculty and nursing leaders to our community, including cardiovascular nurse scientist Christopher Lee, our new associate dean for research.

Our students traveled the globe, gaining new insights as they cared for patients in unfamiliar settings, taught in health programs, and learned about health care systems outside the US.

This edition of the Year in Review highlights key accomplishments of the Connell School community during the 2017–18 academic year. We hope you take pride and satisfaction in reading about them. And we look forward to seeing you in the coming year and learning more about your own experiences.

Sincerely,
