On January 22, Granite State Opera, a New Hampshire company, premiered the first act of an opera based on the life of Oscar Wilde. The composer was Thomas Oboe Lee, a professor and chair of the music department at Boston College and prolific classical composer, whose works have been commissioned by more than 30 music and cultural organizations. The librettist was Paul Hodes, a 1978 graduate of Boston College Law School, who is a trial and entertainment attorney in Concord, New Hampshire. On January 20, National Public Radio’s Here and Now program aired a segment about the work-in-progress.
