Ruth and Larry Ladd ’89, of Lexington, Massachusetts, with “Welles”

Larry Ladd: I knew about Welles [Crowther '99] and the red bandanna because the BC sports website linked to articles about him, and later I read about him in the alumni magazine. The organization that we work with, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, trains seeing eye dogs. We decided to raise money for a seeing eye dog and named him “Welles” in honor of Welles Crowther. We also knew about the reports of two seeing eye dogs that led their owners out of the towers on 9/11.
