A 10-pound Irish banknote, from 1988, celebrates Swift as a national hero. As dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, he fought attempts by the English to weaken Ireland’s economic and political power. Swift’s portrait and signature are on the front, part of a 1756 Dublin map on the reverse.
