On the poster for Gulliver’s Travels: Beyond the Moon, a 1965 example of Japanese anime, Gulliver is subordinate to the young heroes, who use water pistols to vanquish insane robots on the planet Hope. One of the animation assistants was Hayao Miyazaki, who went on to win an Oscar for Spirited Away.
