I study control as a key organizational concern, both within and outside the boundaries of the firm. As control influences a firm's strategic behavior and performance, I also study competitive dynamics and behavior of multi-business and multinational firms, organizations to whom control and value-appropriation concerns matter greatly. I ask: How do instruments of corporate control influence multi-unit firms' ability to capture value under various threats to appropriation?
