I examine the role of identity in organizations and professions. It appears that a sense of identity is central to individuals' struggles to understand their places in rapidly changing, highly diverse, and sometimes geographically dispersed work places. Most recently, I have used identity as a lens to better understand and/or manage long-term intractable conflicts, plurality and unity within organizations, and the creation of meaning and meaningfulness in one's work and workplace.
