When Holy Cross upset number one-ranked and undefeated Boston College at Fenway Park, costing the Eagles a chance at a national championship, BC cancelled what was supposed to have been a victory party at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. That night, fire destroyed the nightclub, killing 492 people and injuring hundreds more. It is likely that some of the 41,300 spectators at the game were among those killed or injured in the fire. However, only one person directly associated with the game is known to have died in the fire: Boston College equipment manager Larry Kenney.
