Projects: I plan to travel to Bolivia, Ecuador, and Argentina during my sabbatical leave to conduct archival research. I will be exploring some of the social and political tensions that shaped the Spanish-American world during the decades leading up to the independence wars. My study will analyze commoners’ revolts and conflicts among the ruling groups in the city of Charcas [Peru] during the late 18th century.
