Celluloid dreams

(l-r) Award presenters John Michalczyk, codirector of the film studies program, Barbara Hazard Munro, dean of the Connell School of Nursing, and Richard Blake, SJ, a film critic and professor in the fine arts department, prior to the ceremony. Michalczyk made a special presentation on the University’s Jacques Salmanowitz Program for Moral Courage in Film, and (teamed with an eagle lamp representing the Baldwin mascot) presented the award for Best Documentary. Munro and Blake presented the award for Best Drama with this opening exchange:

Blake: What’s the difference between a film graduate and a Nursing graduate?
Munro: I don’t know . . . what?
Blake: When nursing graduates finish their residencies, it’s not because their parents kicked them out of the basement!
Munro: Stick to drama, Father.
