By April 1929, the University had built Devlin Hall to house science departments (far left, 1924) and Bapst Library (1928), whose north end was renovated in 1986 and became the Burns Library of Rare Books and Special Collections. Young trees are visible on Linden Lane and automobiles are parked on what would become the O'Neill Library Plaza in 1984.
