In response to overwhelming student need for new music practice space, the music department sacrificed a set of offices on the fourth floor of Lyons Hall over the summer, replacing them with 10 modular soundproof and piano-equipped practice rooms, nine for individual practice or lessons, and one for ensemble playing. The studios, which are filled with the sounds of music of every genre all day and late into the night, are the focus of these photographs and interviews with 13 students over several days in November.
