The station is entirely managed by students, and always has been. Did you watch the video? Granted, not all of the DJs are students but they certainly have every opportunity to get involved. Students are definitely given priority to community DJs. If the student population had creative taste that goes beyond Dave Matthews and Jay Z, it wouldn’t be so difficult to find qualified student DJs.

At that time the station played all styles of music as well as other non-music programs.

A university radio station should reflect the educational mission of the school. The radio station at BC should also reflect the mission of Boston College. Since the call letters, WZBC, indicate that the station is the radio station of Boston College, the directors of the station have a responsibility to represent the university, past and present. The station should not be called WZBC unless it reflects the mission statement of Boston College.

Nice job Dan. I was there doing my thing from ’75-’79. Anybody there remember “Ear Witness News”??? Home grown radio sketch humor at it’s finest! How about a public affairs interview with the center of the basketball team (Rick Keuhn…really great guy…Not sure of the spelling of his name) discussing financial aid. He turned out to be the poor guy who took the fall and went to prison for letting Henry Hill (Good Fellas) seduce him into a game fixing scheme. The place has always been a creative outlet of the greatest magnitude. Just letting you know that in this time of consolidation and shake ups in the corporate world of radio…in LA (where I’ve been plying my trade in the news biz for the past 25 years) the two hottest radio formats are “Indie”….KROQ and Indie 103. I saw the Police @ the Paradise in ’75…Steven Stills fall off his stool in the old Rat and Springsteen play the Orpheum on the weekend he was on the cover of both Time and Newsweek (when that actually meant something). Having been around for a while I can assure you that your studio is a launch pad. Don’t ever let it change!!! Again, nice job Dan…but couldn’t you have covered the jump cuts with some cutaways or something??? Enjoy it. TF
