Open house

Published: September 2005

A four-story, 72,000-square-foot addition to the north side of Alumni Stadium, the Yawkey Athletics Center opened in March 2005, serving as home for the football program, a study center for varsity athletes, and a football museum and hall of fame.

The $27 million complex was funded by a $15 million grant from the Yawkey Foundation, and gifts from alumni and friends. It is the first Boston College building in Chestnut Hill to be built solely through donations. Space in Conte Forum formerly occupied by the football program was renovated during the summer to suit new tenants, including women’s hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, and women’s soccer.
