Newly-elected president Jenniffer Castillo (left) and vice president Daniel Sievers (right) promise to improve communication between the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) and students when they take office on April 30.

Castillo and Sievers, both juniors, propose the installation of flat-panel screens in high traffic areas to advertise UGBC activities. They also plan to update the room reservation system, bring smaller–scale events featuring local musicians and comedy troupes to campus, and advocate for expanded transportation routes to local shopping areas.

“I guess I am crazy because I wanted to do it more than anything,” said Castillo of her decision to run. “I could not deny myself the opportunity to make a difference.”

Castillo, an English major from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Sievers, a mathematics major with a pre–medical concentration from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, received 1,535 out of 2,447 votes to win the election over opponents Jamie Lepri and Sean Scanlon.
