On Sunday afternoon, October 16, in Gasson 100, more than 300 people attended the “Women in Music” concert, in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Boston College Irish Fiddle Festival. Following solo and group performances, the participating musicians played “My Love is in America,” a reel for the fiddle first published in Ireland in 1873. The classic tune had also served as the finale for the 1990 festival. Pictured clockwise from bottom are Mícheál Ó Súilleabhán, Grainne Murphy, Laurel Martin, Beth Sweeney, Tiffany Rozenas, Kathleen Collins, Katie McNally, Abbie MacQuarrie, and Amanda Cavanaugh.

Prior to the concert, Ó Súilleabháin, director of the World Music Centre at University of Limerick, was honored for his role in helping to establish Boston College’s Irish Music Program and organizing the Fiddle Festival while a visiting professor at BC in 1990. He also helped to create the Irish Music Archives in the Burns Library.
