Mary Robinson, former United Nations high commissioner for human rights and former president of Ireland, is greeted in Robsham Theater on November 3 by the theologian David Hollenbach, SJ (center), and University President William P. Leahy, SJ. She later spoke to a near capacity crowd in the inaugural public lecture sponsored by the Center for Human Rights and International Justice at Boston College, which is directed by Hollenbach.
Robinson, who is currently on the faculty of Columbia University, focused her talk on the needs of migrant workers in the U.S. and around the world. The center will promote and provide education and research on the moral and ethical assumptions that guide emerging understandings of universal human rights.
