Mile 21: The day after

Published: April 2013

The evening following the Boston Marathon bombings of April 15 that killed three people near the finish line, students gathered in front of St. Ignatius Church, near Mile 21, signing get-well posters for two Carroll School of Management graduate students who were injured by the blasts. And the University held a Mass for Healing and Hope inside the packed church. In his homily, University President William P. Leahy, SJ, said, “We gather as members of the BC community with our feelings—shock, sadness, fear, hurt, sorrow, bewilderment, and, I suspect, anger as well. . . . How do we carry on? . . . We are called to be people who represent faith and hope and healing for those most in need of it.”
