Nora Diana Frias ’07 (right), the winner of the 2006 Archbishop Oscar A. Romero Scholarship, with her sister, Dora Frias, during the 14th annual awards ceremony on March 25 in the Heights Room. A psychology major who grew up in a Texas border town, Frias is involved in the Women of Color Caucus and the Organization of Latin American Affairs, and participated in the Pedro Arrupe service trip to Chiapas, Mexico. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in social work and law with the goal of aiding immigrant families. The scholarship recognizes a Boston College junior with a record of service to the Hispanic/Latino community and a commitment to the values and ideals inherent in the life of Archbishop Romero, who was killed in El Salvador in 1980.
