Sr. Helen Prejean

Sr. Helen Prejean—an activist against the death penalty and author of Dead Man Walking (Random House, 1994) and Death of Innocents (Random House, 2004)—spoke to 30 undergraduates at a luncheon on March 16 in the Thompson Room in Burns Library. Later that night, Prejean presented the University’s 4th Annual Prophetic Voices of the Church Lecture to a crowd of more than 500 at Robsham Theater, an event sponsored by the Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life at Boston College. Dead Man Walking was number one on the New York Times Best Seller List for 31 weeks. It was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, made into a film starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, and translated into ten languages.
