Rosa Ortiz and freshmen

Rosa Ortiz ’06, one of more than 40 upperclassmen Orientation Leaders, leads a conversation with a group of incoming freshmen and transfer students on O’Neill Plaza on July 11. During the summer, the Office of First Year Experience holds seven three-day Orientation sessions to help guide students in their transition to university life. During their stay on campus, students register for classes, learn about Boston College’s history and traditions, and meet with faculty members, deans, and academic advisors. This year’s freshmen also received a copy of Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance (Three Rivers Press, 1995) by U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who will address the Class of 2009 at the First Year Convocation in September.
