During the winter break at Boston College, when nearly all students are away from campus, custodians Jose Contreras (left) and Michael Dirrane cleaned the marble and wood floors of St. Mary’s Chapel. A crew of four used fine, diamond polishers to grind and buff the marble, and then “recrystallized” the surface, restoring its original glass-like shine.
