Over the winter break, more than 100 Boston College students, faculty, and staff traveled to the Gulf Coast to help clean, paint, and repair homes that had been damaged during Hurricane Katrina. In Pascagoula, Mississippi, students worked alongside members of the Fox family (from left: Bridget Mahoney ’07, Alison Fox, Lauren McNamara ’07, Jenna Dolan ’08, Caroline Brown ’08, and Adam Fox) to clear debris from the Fox’s home, so they could begin the rebuilding process. Volunteers, who were organized through the Presidential Scholars Program, Campus Ministry, and the Volunteer and Service Learning Center, did everything from providing childcare, cooking meals, and clearing streets, to assembling furniture for an elementary school. Learn more about the University’s response to the hurricane in The Heights, Chronicle, Boston College Magazine, and from the ABC-TV Biloxi affiliate.
