First days (and nights)

Published: September 2010

For the Class of 2014, the five days between moving in (on September 2) and starting classes were filled with events designed to introduce students to the campus (a high-tech scavenger hunt led them to key locations), to the city of Boston (a harbor cruise), and to one another. There was an opening dinner, followed by an evening of outdoor team-building activities. The next day President William P. Leahy, SJ, and other senior administrators greeted first-year students at a Conte Forum ceremony. Other activities included presentations on a range of academic opportunities, from the University’s pre-law and pre-med programs, to international study, and the arts at Boston College. Their first week of classes ended with student activity day, a chance for newcomers and returning students to learn about student clubs and organizations such as Americans for Informed Democracy and Voices of Imani, a gospel choir.
