Actor takes professor’s book to big screen: Why Hart Crane?

Published: May 2011

On the evening of Friday, April 15, a Boston College student stepped to a microphone in Robsham Theater and asked actor James Franco and University Professor of English Paul Mariani how they first discovered Hart Crane’s poetry and what it was that drew them to it. Their responses, which can be viewed through this video excerpt, were edited from a longer Q&A session that followed the premiere screening of The Broken Tower, a film directed by and starring Franco and based on Mariani’s 1999 biography, The Broken Tower: The Life of Hart Crane.
