It’s at the beginning of his biography. Anyway, the grapple with faith is always engaging, simply because we simply cannot know whether or not it really matters or affects any particular outcome. It’s an eternal conundrum. It seems to me to be always a pragmatic investment, an economic, decision, which does not make it any less significant, by the way, but renders it impotent. I am now reading Broken Hegemonies by Reiner Schurmann and The Jewish Writings, an anthology of writings by Hannah Arendt, although I don’t know why I’m doing that, either, other than for entertainment. Philosophy leads us, that’s all I know, because nothing else can matter more. The upgraded Hubble and the Cern collider, will not resolve our deepest questions, being who we are, but they are part of our religious quest to know and to understand. From that vantage point, we are all religious, and rightfully so. It need not be manifest in oath taking. I, personally, do not believe a public profession of faith is important, especially since Kant, but I respect Professor Richardson, having audited his classes many years ago, for the wisdom he shares, especially in these times of such Temporay Truth. PS: My guess is that the wine is French, let’s say a Burgundy, either that, or an Italian Montalcino, perhaps? What’s important? Health Care. Will CT Joe give is a break?!
