The most recent public sculpture to be installed on Middle Campus—a 15-foot high statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus—seems to be lecturing to a conveniently placed snowman in the midst of the winter’s first substantial storm on December 9. As to the substance of the lecture, the guess that seems to make the most sense comprises Ignatius’ legendary words to Francis Xavier: “Go set the world aflame.” The sculpture, created by Pablo Eduardo, was a project of the University’s Committee on Christian Art.
