On November 21, the roughly two dozen students in theater lecturer Jason Asprey’s “Theater Skills: Stage Combat” class took up arms in the Bonn Studio Theater, to prepare for their upcoming production, Honor, Shame, and Violence: A Shakespeare Anthology Project. Asprey, an actor with Shakespeare & Company (Lenox, Massachusetts), co-taught the course with Doug Seldin, an actor and lecturer in combat and clowning at Skidmore College. The same students were also enrolled in “Shakespeare Acting,” taught by Asprey’s mother, Tina Packer, founder of Shakespeare & Company and the J. Donald Monan, SJ, Professor in Theater Arts for 2014–15. The show, which explores the meaning of violence in Shakespeare’s plays, runs January 21–25 in the Bonn Studio Theater.
