On August 17 in the lower gallery of the McMullen Museum, Diana Larsen, exhibits and collections manager, and Vinnie Marasa, an exhibits preparator, check the placement of artist Florine Stettheimer’s painting Portrait of Henry McBride, Art Critic (1922), for the opening of The Power of Conversation: Jewish Women and their Salons. The exhibition, which runs from August 22 through December 4, features more than 150 objects and examines the role played by Jewish women in the development of art, literature, music, theater, philosophy, and politics in Europe and America from the late 18th century through the 1940’s.
