The University’s student-organized celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) featured community service, poetry, music, dance, and Latin food. It also included discussions with guest scholars on topics ranging from “Undocumented Immigrants and Higher Education” to “The Catholic Church in Cuba.” Support and assistance for the events came from the Office of AHANA Student Programs, the Student Programs Office, Learning to Learn, Dining Services, the Alumni Association, Latino/Latinas at Boston College, and First Year Experience. (The AHANA acronym, coined by Boston College students in 1979, stands for African-American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American.)
