Established in 2006, the Winston Center for Leadership and Ethics brings together scholars, practitioners, and students. A prominent piece of its undergraduate programming is the semiannual Chambers Lecture, which has introduced speakers such as Col. Eileen Collins (Ret.), NASA’s first female commander; Raymond Offenheiser, president of Oxfam America; and Paul Rusesabagina, the hotel manager who kept more than 1,200 Tutsis and Hutus safe during the Rwandan violence of April 1994.
This year’s fall lecture was given by actor Chris O’Donnell ’92, whose credits include Scent of a Woman and Batman Forever, as well as the TV series NCIS: Los Angeles. O’Donnell is a past recipient (in 2003) of the Boston College Arts Council Alumni Award for Distinguished Achievement. In 1998, he established a scholarship that provides financial aid for needy students from the Chicago area. The actor spoke in the Heights Room on October 1 and met with students (above) at a reception afterward.
