A reception in the Gasson Honors Library on March 17 marked the release of three albums by music department faculty members: Solo & Chamber Works, composed by assistant professor Ralf Gawlick for piano, violin, viola, and cello; Das Wohltemperierte Clavier, Book II, preludes and fugues by Johann Sebastian Bach performed on the harpsichord and pedal harpsichord by lecturer Peter Watchorn; and Gradualia (1607), liturgical works by the Renaissance English composer William Byrd presented by Ensemble Plus Ultra under the direction of professor Michael Noone. All three albums were issued by Musica Omnia. Following the reception, the Hawthorne String Quartet, Boston College’s quartet-in-residence, performed works by Gawlick, Haydn, Gershwin, and Penderecki in Gasson 100.
