An audience of 3,500 gathered in Conte Forum on Friday night March 20 for the eighth annual “Show Down,” a dance competition sponsored by the AHANA Leadership Council. Pictured above are members of Phaymus, a hip-hop troupe with jazz, modern, tap, and cultural inflections.
Prizes were awarded by a panel of professional dancers in two categories: dance and cultural expression. The Latin group Fuego del Corazon placed first in dance. Masti, the dance company of the South Asian Student Association, took first in the cultural category. The prize for each, according to “Show Down” co-director Akash Tharani ’09: a four-foot trophy “and year-long bragging rights.”
