Graduates signal their pride to family and friends in the Alumni Stadium stands following Boston College’s 131st commencement on May 21. Of the 3,325 members in the Class of 2007, 2,193 were awarded undergraduate degrees, and 1,132 were awarded graduate or professional degrees. Some 15,000 attended the ceremony.

Boston business leader and philanthropist John (Jack) M. Connors Jr. ’63 served as the commencement speaker and told the graduates: “You have been given many gifts. You have been given the gift of life, the gift of health, the gift of love, and the gift of a great education. The question for you is: Over the course of your lives, what gifts will you give?”

Joining Connors in receiving honorary degrees were former Vatican astronomer George V. Coyne, SJ; Boston anti-violence activist Isaura Mendes; sports journalist Lesley Visser ’75; and former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney.
