Seeking Environmental Student Project Ideas!

The Boston College Environmental Studies Program is seeking environmental professionals to serve as mentors for student projects in our capstone course for environmental studies minors during the spring 2013 semester. Our goals are to provide our graduating students with real–world experience by joining them with BC alumni working in the environmental and sustainability fields, and to build a strong network of BC alumni working on environmental issues. At the same time, mentors get free consulting from current students. Here is the concept: This fall, potential mentors provide us with semester–long project ideas, and we compile a list. During the spring semester, groups of four students will each choose a project and complete a report by working in an environmental consulting capacity. The time commitment of the mentor is minimal and will involve meeting with the students, either in person or by phone/Skype, once or twice during the spring semester. Mentors will be invited to the course project presentation symposium in April. Mentors from the business, government, and nonprofit sectors are all welcome. If you are interested in providing a project idea and acting as a mentor, please contact Professor Martha Carlson Mazur (martha.carlsonmazur@bc.edu, 617-552-0634) or Professor Tara Pisani Gareau (tara.pisanigareau@bc.edu) by November 2, 2012.
