Precise tasks will depend on the skills and interests of the chosen applicant as well as program needs but will include:
? Liaising with community partners to develop opportunities for students, staff, and faculty
? Identifying and developing on-the-ground resources and training materials and workshops to assist public interest work
? Training and providing programmatic support to undergraduate student leaders for community programs
? Planning and facilitating events such as reflection exercises, speaker events, orientation events, and training sessions
? Providing communication, content, and logistical support for students, staff, and faculty engaging in public service
? Helping with risk management and documentation processes
? Publicizing programs throughout various MIT outlets and systems
? Providing support in the student selection process for community programs
? Collecting program data, conducting program evaluation, and writing reports about programming

Qualifications:
? Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program for higher education, social work, or related field

Job Description & Requirements: | The PKG Center for Public Service is the epicenter of public service at MIT. It is a small, collegial, and welcoming office. The Priscilla King Gray Public Service Center (PKG Center) at MIT seeks a Graduate Assistant for the PKG Fellowships for the summer with the possibility of also applying for the position for the coming academic year. 15 hours a week with lots of flexibility.
The PKG Fellowship program supports MIT students in developing and implementing intensive social impact work with community-focused organizations. Each year, about 50 students are awarded funding to consult with non-profits, pilot their own social enterprise, or explore social impact careers through internships. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will support all aspects of the program and gain professional development in social impact and higher education. The GA works with MIT students as they cultivate their visions of social change across diverse disciplines. There will be ample opportunities to build skills and network with staff and students who care as passionately as you do about inclusive social change.
This role requires in-person time in our office at MIT, but some work can be done remotely.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
? Enrollment as a graduate student at a Boston-area university in a related field such as higher education management, international development, social work, public policy, social entrepreneurship, etc.

? Strong organizational and project management skills

Work schedule This position is 15 hours a week. The precise schedule is flexible to fit the Graduate Assistant’s academic schedule, but the majority of work hours must be undertaken in-person at our MIT office during our standard work hours. All majors allowed

Social innovation is one of the vehicles by which many MIT students are engaged in public service. IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge [IDEAS] is the PKG Center’s annual innovation, service, and social entrepreneurship program for graduate and undergrad students working on domestic and international projects to meet the needs of underserved populations through systems-change social innovations. IDEAS provides an important space at MIT for supporting and recognizing student social innovators and entrepreneurs. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Social Innovation, the program will continue to facilitate student networking around social impact projects, promote students’ development of ethical frameworks and practical skills, serve as a bridge between MIT students and outside professionals and alumni using business and innovation for social good, and strengthen the PKG Center’s visibility on-campus.
The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including outreach and communications work for the program, reviewing grant applications and providing feedback, and facilitating workshops. This role will also be responsible for running logistics and managing volunteers for several large and small campus events (virtual and physical). We are looking for someone who would be comfortable representing the program to students and various other stakeholders.
We are seeking a Graduate Assistant to help the Assistant Dean with all aspects of social innovation programming. Precise tasks will depend on workflow and the skills and interests of the chosen applicant, but some areas will include:
? Assist in designing, planning, coordinating, implementing, delivering, and assessing PKG Center’s social innovation program(s) several large campus events, plus numerous smaller program events, workshops, and activities throughout the year
? Support PKG Center’s pre-orientation program for incoming undergraduate students interested in exploring social innovation.
? Design, development, and implementation of on-campus and external outreach efforts.
? Design, develop, and implement volunteer engagement for the reviewers, mentors, and judges.
? Design and coordinate social media plans for social innovation programming.
? Assist in reviewing applications and making collaborative decisions regarding grant awards.
? Assist in identifying and developing cross-campus partnerships and serve as a liaison for relevant offices, departments, and groups.
? Increase campus awareness of Social Innovation programming through the PKG Center.
? Support student social innovators and entrepreneurs through office hours and attending workshops.
? Assist in database and platform maintenance for reporting and communications.
? Assist with other PKG programs, projects, and events as needed.
